I don't think that the german only market is still big enough to warrant only it's initial release, IF they also want to go global. It was also someone from PB - or maybe from JoWood - who, when asked about the english add-on release earlier and other language translation reasons, told that the product didn't go as well on global market as they hoped for and thus the funds are limited. Of course it didn't go as well as they hoped for, no customers want to wait for some product to be translated into the language they understand for a year or more, after it's released. By that time, new titles are out from other companies and this product is WAY out of date, only some "hardcore" fans are still hanging there and waiting.
And english is used almost everywhere in Europe, I have travelled literally through all of the Europe due to my work and have been quite OK with it. I don't expect, naturally, that everyone in some faraway slum village know english, they may live perhaps such isolated life that no other languages are really needed there, but I can bet that in such villages, most likely, are no computer users either
So, still, if PB wants to make something just for german speaking customers, then indeed, they should be OK. But if they want to go global with it, then they should realize that making the english speaking customers globally wait many months, if not years, for the translation only, will end with fiasko, or very little income and publicity, again. _________________ Been there, done that . . . |

ehe nops there are actually in a very limited amount those kind of publishers cos "worldwide" means to spend alot of money u know not only to one country in alot of pc stores to put up theyr copies but almost in every country , this means they need to spend alot alot of money first and to do that they need to be sure they gonna get all that spended money back + 30-40% more. Dont get me wrong Gothic series is a very damn good game and all but many countrys and people still dont know about it and those ppl who dont know about the game most likely wont buy the game also. |

i understand what you're trying to say but just think how many games are successfully published worldwide (probably all good games). now, i know that gothic isn't very famous, but that can be fixed with a litle advertising (in stores, magazines' articles, internet and more) furthermore the sales are mostly the responsibility of stores and not the publisher's. but anyway you're right it's hard to find a publisher to do that |
