Bethesda is one of the last self-publishing game companies in the U.S., let's hope they do not go the way of Sir-Tech(was hoping and wishing for Wizardry 9 and the rumored return to fantasy and the elimination of high tech). I want Bethesda to stay around for many years to come and continue to make great non-linear crpg's for the pc(couldn't care less for consoles). |

Without bugs, it would be near impossible for people to get up to 300 posts without unconstructive spamming. |

I agree some of the things about this game that make it appealing are the weather models they've talked about, the fact that they are going to release the 'construction kit' for people to use to make new dungeons and things like that, the open ended-ness, if they pull through on this game, it could be a HUGE hit for them.
I have my fingers crossed too, for once I'd like to see the 'little guy' make a hit CRPG... |

Hulk:
I agree with you, I couldn't care less about console games, especially CRPG's, but I heard this could be an XBox port.
I probably will never buy an XBox, but I'd love to see it become a major player in the console market simply because PC games can be so easily ported to it, and that would help the PC gaming market in the long run.
I would prefer to see a console platform tha has ports games coming from PC to console rather than console to PC ports, and I think the Xbox has the potential to make that scenario happen.
We'll see..

I guess if I want any console to succceed, it's the x-box(I'll never buy one though). Even though it's fairly easy to port x-box games to the pc, I am concerned that if developers do decide to port an x-box game to pc, they will choose not to enhance the game to take advantage of the pc's vastly larger amount of memory(system and video) and the higher resolution. The x-box has only 64 mb shared between video card and main memory, and as we all know, many pc's have that much memory alone just in the video card, as well as 256-512mb main memory. I'd rather see game developers make a game optimized for pc first, then do a port to x-box(which in all likelihood would be inferior to the pc version). Of course that's not even to mention my worries of a developer just making games for x-box and not even bothering to port the game to pc. |

The X-Box is a dedicated game machine. Its specs, when matched to a PC, don't translate properly. Its very operating system is coded to handle 3d graphic engines... tweaked out and optimized. Its video card is the same way. There are no blue screens of death or crashes to desktop on the XBox... but it doesn't suffer from any true loss of gaming power compared to a PC.
Yet.
There's always the yet factor.
I wouldn't buy one... my PC works just fine AND it's a DVD player to boot. But it's not a bad piece of technology. |

I have played Arena, Daggerfall, Battlespire and Redguard - i have enjoyed them all - but there is one trick:
wait for the third patch when you play a Bethesda (= Orcish for Beta Tester) product.

I don't guess you should wait for the third patch - there will be only two
In fact the german game-mags did not find any bugs during playtesting last month and that seems to be real GOOD!
*more bugs in my post than in morrowind?*
