Skipoints spending tips for a wanabe Mage?

I have yet to join a guild and am in chapter 1. I plan to complete the quest as a Mage. At some point I am going to have to begin saving points strictly for Mage abilities. My question is this, give my current stats, can I afford to build up any of the non mage abilities before I join the guild, if so what is recommended? Lvl=12/Str=35/Dex=32/Mana=20/Two-Handed=20%/Sneak/PickLocks/PickPocket/Alchemy.

Thanks in advance.

just go and be a mage, because it doesn't matter, you can improve this abilities every time you want, there are alway's teachers who are willing to improve your skills.

After you become a novice and a mage it will cost twice as much learning points to increase weapon skill and increase strength and dexterity. I would recommend to increase at least 2 handed to 30 %. Then you reach a new fighter level and have more moves available. You can use alchemy to make permanent strength, dexterity and mana potion. You will need 5 learning points for every spell circle and 5 points for every spell rune but you don't really need more than 1 or two spells from each circle. There are not enough rune stones anyway. You will learn a new circle and its spells every chapter. You don't really need weapon skills as a mage but it is nice to have a decent sword or bow fight from time to time. Allso, pray at the statues after you become a mage. This will give you 4 mana points each time (10 times). But it only works once every day.
