I got the quest item "Tjorad" from the monestary in Lindesfarne, but I did get it the "easy" way, so to speak! I tried sounding the bells for prayer time, but nothing seems to work! Has anybody solved this quest without wacking the monks?!

Just ping the bells in correct order (from lowest pitch to highest). You won't be able to complete the priest, paladin and dragon killing quests if you make the monks angry.

I fulfilled the dragon and paladin quests before I wacked the Monks, so no problems there!
I seem to recall that i already tried to sound the bells from one end to another and any other combination. Do you have to do this at a certain time of the day/night?
Anyway I will try the simple ring the bells from one end to the other again!

NOT from one end to another, but from lowest pitch to highest. Use your ears.

Also, The monk playing the organ will give you a hint. Listen to his song.
