Hi all together.

Some days ago I wrote a post concerning "illegal Object Index, can't enter chapter 6, mayday".
Now I have some feedback from support at piranha bytes and a little more knowledge, so I thought, I'd like to share it with you in a new post.

First of all, finish ALL (and I really mean ALL) tasks running in the background when you want to play gothic and save non-corrupted saved games.
Then only save one time in every slot and after that make a backup on your harddrive of the saved games with date. So you can always reload a non-corrupted saved game when you got trouble (hopefully not too far from your actual position). When all slots are full, delete the files in the slot folders before saving again in one of the slots. While you are playing sometimes hit the escape button. If the menu doesn't turn on then your game has crashed (you won't recognize it until you try to save or talk to people). In this case do better not rely on the last saved game...
Since WindowsME Microsoft sometimes activates the Windows Update Task automatically (that happened to me), which is running in the background and making trouble all the time. So make sure, ALL tasks are closed (I can't tell that enough times )
The saved games divide themself in the game sections (i.e. orctemple.sav, world.sav, graveyard.sav and so on), so sometimes you may be able to exchange the obviously corrupted file with a file you earlier saved (meaning you have to do everything in this gamesection again you did after the last save)
Disable DMA-Mode of your Install drive during installation to avoid install crashes...

The support couldn't repair my saved game, they don't know what happened, the only suggestion was loading an earlier saved game.
But their response was really very fast, no other support seems to have this enthusiasm and I was positively surprised...

Oh, the Hotline mentioned on the German Homepage doesn't exist anymore, the alternative Hotline mentioned on the telephone tape is MUCH more expensive, so my advise is to write e-mails right away and not trying to call Hotline support (besides they were VERY unfriendly and don't have knowledge about the game at all!!!!!!!!)

I hope I could help a little bit....
Don't give it up on the game, it's a great game and nobody is perfect I think...

Greetings, Weasel
