What happened! Can't see interactive descriptions any more

All of a sudden I can't see any of the interactive description stuff any more, like herbs, chests, attacking Orcs, that sort of thing. For example I am looking at a chest, I've already opened it in the past so I know it is interactive, but when I look at it I don't see the white letters saying "chest" so I can't interact with it. So the game is sort of over, unless I can get this back again. Please, please help!!! I hope this is just a toggle, although I have a feeling it isn't because this game isn't playable if you can't see what you're interacting with.

If there is no option for item highlighting (or something like this) in the menu or the gothic.ini it seems you have to reinstall. Copy the savegame folder to another location before you uninstall.
