Dominion: Interview @ MMORPG Network

I've categorised this under Dominion but this interview ranges across a number of subjects with David Allen from Pharoah Productions discussing their upcoming project, the industry and his past history. In particular, as the original founder of Artifact Entertainment which was subjected to a "hostile takeover", David gives the current team and the current Horizons design a real serving, saying "[the] game will reflect their abilities" amoung other things. Here's a quote on Dominion:
DOMINION is not quite a MMOG and not quite like Diablo2, but a mix of both. It’s a fast-paced RPG that appeals both to action gamers and hardcore RPGERS by allowing extensive and unlimited character development, adventuring through immersive dynamic worlds, and all without the hated level treadmill systems that has enveloped so many MMOGs. I specifically decided not to go the route of a MMOG when I was designing DOMINION because it’s not necessary to make a successful community-oriented on-line game. Right now, everyone is so enamored with the MMOG catch-phrase that they aren’t thinking of what’s at the core of these games. You don’t need 2500 people in a game world to make it successful. How many people do you interact with, perhaps 8? 16? 32? DOMINION focuses more on smaller dynamic game worlds that the player can jump their characters between, and provided an upper-layer community center where players can meet, share, and plan their adventures. This is a successful model that has been proven with Diablo2 via Battle.net but not to the extent that DOMINION plans on taking it.

Very interesting interview

It is so refreshing to hear from someone who loves the 'games' as much as I do and is not afraid to want to put some heart into the gaming world instead of just 'milking' the public for easy money.
I am looking forward to what you can cook up for us David!
