Well I wanted to try Gothic II again, but the saved games I stored on cd before I changed hard drives don't work. Does anyone here have a 'quick start' saved game, where I can choose the guild I want to join? Thanks. |

There were quick-starts for Gothic I when it came out, why can't there be quick-starts for Gothic 2 then, smarty-pants? |

So far no one sent us a quickstart savegame for G2. I also find this rather disappointing.
Good luck finding an adequate save. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Okay. Make sure the decision is still open. Donīt burn any bridges.
You can find some ideas in the notes to the G1 quicksaves. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

You have to download a tool like WinZip or WinRar (there are dozens of them, doesnīt really make a difference). Then find the correct savegame folder (for example \JoWooD\Gothic2\Saves\save3), select it in WinRar and compress this folder with everything in it. The result is a single file which is slightly smaller than the uncompressed folder with all the files. This file can easily be attached to an email.
This is easier than it sounds. WinXP has included zip support hidden behind the right mousebutton. Quite useful to learn. Many files on the web are compressed with one of the mentioned progams or a compatible freeware clone. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |

Around level 20, I think. You can use chapter 4 to balance the game. Stop killing orcs when it gets too easy.
There are different strategies for quickstart savegames:
-minimum level, just the quests solved
-a realistic approach which collects all the easy XP and items and reaches a level in which you will survive if you enter the next chapter immediately
-the perfectionist approach. Kill and collect everything, get to level nnn (17 in G1).
ALWAYS: Only spend skillpoints if itīs inevitable. Spending points reduces the playerīs options!
A decent savegame from which one can still join all guilds would be a good start. _________________ Webmaster GothicDot |
