I can't find diego in gothic 2 can anyone help (I'm online now)

He hides in the old meeting place between the mines in the orc territory and the castle. Very close to this sort of gate guarded by 2-3 orcs and some animals. There are 2 dead paladins at the entrance of his hideout.
