Character building tips

1. It's imperative that you increase your fighting ability first, before you increase your non-combat ability.

Reason: As you level up, the FIGHTING strength of your enemy will increase. However, if you just increase your level but not your fighting strength, you will have to fight against tougher enemies. If you didn't seriously try to increase your fighting strength, you can't progress the game after you reach around level 15 and will have to start over.

2. Don't have alchemy, sneak, althletics, mercantile, speechcraft, and acrobatics as your major skill, for the reason above.

3. You need to get those x5 multipliers early in the game in order to survive. Leave one of the skill that is associated with whatever attribute you want to increase in the minor skill.

4. Unless if you are a fighter, get your speed attribute up and be prepared to run like hell. If you are a mage type, you have to run a lot, especially when you are waiting for your magicka to regenerate.

5. Explore early in the game, and locate all the dungeons so that you can choose to instant travel to just about any part of the map. It will get much harder to explore after you become higher level. There will be more critters and harder critters. When you are low level, you can pretty much go anywhere in the game. When you are high level, it's hard to get to places without fighting difficult creatures all the time.

6. Leave those treasure chest alone until you are higher level. You get better treasure as your level increase.

Just a few comments:

1. You don't actually need to build up your combat skills too much, making money is easy enough with a non-combat orientated character i.e. stealing from houses. You can then train your combat skills using your gains.

6. Most treasure chests respawn in 2 weeks gametime.
