C'est la vie, mon ami. Car dealers need money as well.

quote:
By using 32 bits your processor can represent numbers from 0 to 4,294,967,295 while a 64-bit machine can represent numbers from 0 to 18,446,744,073,709,551,615. Obviously this means your computer can do math with larger numbers, and be more efficient with smaller numbers. Cool, huh?

Close, but it's more about processing, rather than representation. The length of a number a machine represents is only limited by memory, so 64-bit numbers are often represented on 32-bit machines. However, all core operations on the 64 ones use 8 bytes at a time, so you don't need to emulate 32+ bit operations by software.

Q: Which usually falls faster, a Polar Bear, or a Brown one, if they're the same weight and size?

Depends on which one flaps its arms faster.

Why does Microsoft Internet Explorer need so many security updates when Firefox needs so few, yet keeps out so much spyware that IE just lets through?

Partly because IE is much wider used, and therefore more attractive to attack, and partly because it's so integrated in the OS, so an attack can do much greater damage in IE than in Firefox. And because it allows ActiveX-protocols.

Why doesn't more people change from Intel to AMD and from IE to Firefox, when the latter ones nowadays are in many ways superior to the former?

Humans live in herds and follow certain rules that are unwritten but accepted by the entire herd. Humans don't easily change when the rest of the herd isn't, because they are afraid of being banned for being "different".

What would happen when the Flood came and washed the lands, would we be able to make enough submarines on time?

Doubtful. We'd need a lot of submarines for the billions of people currently inhabiting the planet.

@~NOBODY~: You just asked for the technical difference. That is the difference. One processor can count higher than the other one. End of story.

What is the chance of catching a fly ball in a major league baseball game?

The former contains too much carbonic acid; the latter has too much sugar.
