3DO Asset Auction: UbiSoft gets (Heroes of) Might & Magi
   

Celestial Heavens <a href="http://dynamic3.gamespy.com/~homm/index.php#PQN436732" target="_blank">reports</a> that UbiSoft was able to secure the rights to the 'Heroes of Might & Magic' (RPG-Flavored Turn-Based Strategy) and 'Might & Magic' (RPG) franchises. The licences are part of former 3DO assets that are currently on auction due to 3DO's bankruptcy. They went to Ubi for US$ 1.3 million.

This is the end of the franchise. Unless Ubi-Soft sells the rights to these games, they will drive them into the dirt so far, they will never be heard from again. Ubi-Soft has a histiry of publishing bad to mediocre software like Dogz 5, Dragons Lair 3D and Hopoters Road Trip (okay, there are a small number of bright spots like Rainbow Six). This is almost as bad as M&M being held by a dying 3DO.
