Hey there Killerofevils II,

Looks like you've got your hands full, and all good stuff, i know the feeling.

But i am going slow on purpose, methodologic style, as Cromanin said, - - -
"I must accept to share the power within myself with the worthy ones who are to come and find me. - - - - I hope they're coming soon."
"I feel great fear to lose all of it again by a slight faltering in word or deed"

P.S If something develop's i will let you know.

Hmmm, I got a question Wulf, why are you and Graham 2 even talking about getting Chromanin book 1 in chapter 1? When I played for the first time and I did Chromanin quest and saw the Old Man it was about Chapter 4 or so. Maybe some explaination please?

Hahaaa, @ Killerofevils II,

I can't give you a definate answer, why not? because the "clue" lies in the question, Graham 2 was answering my "lazy" idea of going through the books numbers with the chapters, it wasn't a good idea. ch/2 book/2 etc' who knows?
I don't agree with Goraths map idea, linking the stranger quest to the focus quests, for convenience yeah, but for this "old man" thing (and going from memory 3 years ago) ch/4 or even later should be good for getting the "later books" that means, you could get book/1 in ch/2 then wait till later for for the following books, if you played the game for the first time and didn't know of the stranger quest, then you would have (playing normally) wider gaps between
finding the books, as i did first time.
I am making a lot of carefully named saves for reference later on. I also don't know how far the maximum levels will go up to before being barred from the old camp?
I am absolutely curious, if i find "him", where the rendered cave/location will be exactly, since that first time i played i have learned a lot about the "inner" workings of Gothic, the waypoint system, the wayboxes, the vobboxes, camera splines, and senses boxes and many others, so one thing is for sure,
I would know the co-ordinates, the running/ani's/strings, text strings etc' etc'
as well as the character/overlay and meshes, all i would need to know of what i could never find, even after many hours of "searching"

Whoa something just occured to me. When I saw the old man he was wearing a yellow robe, I think Judge's Robe. Never thought about that, well I just did minecrawler nest and am a Guard now and on my way to give eggs to Cor Kalom. Hmmm I wonder if the old man's cave is even in the Fog Tower.

@KillerofevilsII,

Surely, if you saw the old man in a yellow robe? you would "know" where the old mans cave was?
I'm still going slow level 9.

Just a brief note for anyone following this thread/topic,

It has previously been mentioned about there being no dynamic locations in
Gothic and i for one must agree but, chapter changes do enable script changes
and inclusions/retractions of triggers, npc's, flags,objects,quest differences etc'.

But to completly turn this "notion" upside down, let me say this:-

Still in ch/1 and going carefully-slow, i came to the place where the snappers are, up the canyon, below the tree-trunk bridge, close to the old monastery on the coast. The room which contains alchemy apparatus, chests etc, and the door, are all missing! - they are gone! I can not yet "come to terms" with an explanation for this yet, but its a good sign, locations can (proof) appear and not appear.

you mean there were you have to change in a meatbug to be able to get inside for the focus quest? maybe stupid question, but I have been following this thread from the start but never posted anything because I never did the stranger quest,untill I read it and I found him dead but I really wanted to know now how you could find the stranger

Well Wulf I just did all the quests and the invocation took place, haven't killed Baal Lukor or Nyras, checked Orc Cemetery, Now I'm off to the New Camp to start the Focus Search but I think I should wait till I get kicked out to do the Chromanin, I think. Now I'm at a point when I'll do the at Chapter 5 since that's when I did it. Or maybe any suggestions Wulf?

@Titus,

Yeah, thats the place, but the wierd graphics problem is o.k now (cured by driver swap).
The info' on this thread is as much as i can "collate" (put together) you know as much as i do.
If you can do "der fremde" in the nornal manner, the books, the skeletons, the corpse and then the quest is complete, then by playing differently, (with true goodness intent), it is possible to enable the hitherto unknown quest, which it seems, as been "missed" by the near majority of players.

@Killerofevils II,

It is most important to make strategic saves (and not to use them) until you are *sure*? that you are getting towards the end of the game and have "missed" the old man, we all know that the normal quest can be done at anytime to suit your "taste" - - - - so anyone who finds the old man from now on will know when they met him, i have no definate info'.

Well now I have been banished after collecting all the focuses and ran away from guards at town. I'm not quite too sure if I should do Chromanin quest now, damn I need some more clues from wolverine_men right now Well anyway I'll make a back-up game and do it when I get home so If I find the dead corpse I've done it wrong right Wulf?

O.k Killerofevils II,

"DO NOT" kill npc's in the old camp (we all know that there are various ways to do this) but leave the camp as it is "shut" don't go too near the guards at the gates, this way you will have not provoked any npc's, this is as the storyline was meant to be by default, and as i did it when first played.
Have you killed any npc's for whatever reason? - - - did you become a guard? - - - there is no reason not to try the fog tower now, you would only be finding the first book. So far so good? - - "spread" the books out, dont get them all at once?

Well I read all this topic and Im wondering if the "path of righteous" does really mean "no killing, no stealing etc...."

I mean, it would be too hard to be a "jesus" without doing a single bad thing, even in the non optionnals quests and how do the hell pyranah bites would have programmed that?

But the "find the books" in a special order or a special time could do some sense but I really think the path of righteous thing isnt that complicated, in fact, im sure its something quite simple and that a lot of people missed.

But what is it?

Find what is this righteous thing, and the puzzle will be solved

Well trUmaNshO,

What you say might be almost true "something simple" but i am most sure that many good players on these forums *would not* miss a "simple" thing.
Thats why the game writers have put in something *so hard* as to play the game in a "righteous" manner, so far i have not killed one npc or argued, o.k i've had to "knock down" Nyras but i HAD TO "steal" back the focus stone, but left all of his inventory items untouched and it was self defence and it is in the "critical storyline".
That's a very good point "how would Pyranha bytes have programmed that"
Easy, a set of sequencial (in order) triggers that have been enabled in a prior chapter change, but the question still remains "what are the triggers?"
So now i will ask the question, how can you *wander on the path of righteousness* or *break the chains of this world* how can you be proven "worthy" - - - ?

"Easy, a set of sequencial (in order) triggers that have been enabled in a prior chapter change"

yeah but, for that, u dont need to be always on the right path... u only need to find those "triggers" u're talking about

And what if youre trying to be soooooo rightttttt that you're missing the whole thing?

(u know that we must keep in mind that this second chiromanin ending maybe doesnt exist at all)

Hey TrUmaNshO,

This is so hard to explain, i almost can't express myself,
When you say "you don't need to be always on the right path" that would be a correct level headed approach/assumption, i would even agree, and there lies the dilema, as mentioned in previous posts, what are the triggers? - - - so, because we don't know, using our knowledge of the game, and some of us on these forums know much of the Gothic sequences, then to play with an "extra"
aware/careful mind, we might find out, this is not a normal way to play Gothic?
it is more of a way of "finding out" to see "what if" a kind of experiment, just so this "old-man" thing can be proved with logical evidence.
If i hadn't seen the old man with my own eyes, i suppose i also would be very
sceptical of the "true cromanin" quest.
