Thanks to <a href="http://www.worthplaying.com/" target="_blank">Worthplaying</a> for letting us know Dreamcatcher has released a demo for D.W. Bradley's 'Dungeon Lords', due around April 20th. Grab the 312Mb file from <a href="http://www.worthplaying.com/article.php?sid=24302" target="_blank">Worthplaying</a> <a href="http://www.ggmania.com/?smsid=18281" target="_blank">GG Mania</a>.

Aww I can't download the demo, none of the links for downloading seem to work.

Anyone know if this can be downloaded elsewhere?

Cheers,

Daniel.

Where are you from? GGMania server is pretty empty, just click on the LOCAL MIRROR link...we have really fat US line.

*scratches head* Seems all of the zip versions of the download are password protected. GG Mania has a .exe version for download that works fine.

First Impression

No need to hurry with it. Depressingly bad. Sounds like they got Interns to do voice acting. graphics are unremarkable, bland, generic even. (A word to game companies. People...if you are going to do voice acting....pony up for the talent.) Sound in general is crappy and has a hollow canned affect to it. Combat is an annoying click button A fest. Characters slide all over the place. You could be dead on the ground and spin yourself on yourself around on your stomach. Random enounters, give new meaning to the words. Bats, rats and other unremarably modelled and textured critters harass every 30 seconds even when you're in the middle of conversing with one of the above mentioned Intern NPCs. IMHO a terrible first impression...

Doesn't look good. All the hallmarks of a rush job. Needs A LOT of work. Perhaps a year or more...

Imagine a cross between Descent to Undermountain and Ravenloft: Strahds Possession.

Will make you want to go play WoW.

I disagree. I had more fun with the demo than I did with kotor2 or Morrowind retail.

I think the graphics are great, and the biggining song is the nest game music I have heard.

Of course the combat stinks, all rt twitch combat stinks. If it ain't tb it ain't going to be good. The combat is still better than Bloodlines or Morrowind or Arx Fatalis or Kotor or NWN or Gothic or any of the other stupid gay RT combat games.

What stinks about the demo (besides not having TB combat) is all the gay chests and the high rate of respawn. Other than that I am sure I am going to like it.

I had the same problem with too much combat in every dw bradley game. He is a hack n' slash guy, but the rest of the game usually makes up for it. As with Bloodlines, the rest of the game carried the crap combat.

I am willing to bet that the town and rp parts will be good, if a little old school.

I dont even have time to start the game get armor on before I am assaulted CONSTANTLY by spawns, I turned it to less spawns with no effect.
I can not figure out how to switch back to sword after I fire a couple of fireballs,
So I am running in circles hitting every key while 5 rats and 3 goblins (this is the easy setting by the way since I can not even get 5 feet).
I hear a womans voice, look and see an old man (unic ? ), btw this all with the 10 mobs within 1 feet waiting to attack once I complete dialogue, just think how involved I am in the story and conversation knowing I will take 10 hits before I get 1 step.
The freaking treasure disappears while I am trying to even figure which keys it takes to get to it and pick it up.
I certianly has potienal, I think partly the problem with the graphics is we are forced to play in 8x6 which by todays standards is very poor visually.

I really want to like this game, I mena it has Freaking Coop, but I am getting so frustratted I am starting to loath the game before it is even released so I am stopping now.

I'm going to leave it to tomorrow and try again. Not too impressed so far...I honestly don't see the point in releasing a demo of a game capable or higher res but locked to 800x600 these days. So far, the combat is awful, the controls are awkward, animations slide around, sounds are tinny and the AI is the worst I've seen in ages. Had 3x scorpions, 2x wolves and 3x goblins all stuck behind Simon (who didn't help and who they ignored) -- which was kind of lucky because I hadn't had the chance to think yet before they all attacked.

Whats the big deal about 800x600? I can't be the only one that thinks this game has better graphics than kotor 2? Look at the gas huffing slime and the big ogre guy and the mages. I think bloodlines hands-down had better graphics, but worse combat.

Here's a hint. Hit the e key and drink a potion when health is low, hitting e or c pauses the game also. You also have a healing spell in one of the schools (like celestial or some crap).

HORRIBLE game. Who thought this game was worth making? It's just awful. 5-10 years ago, this might've been mildly entertaining. Today, it's just sad.
