I'm interested in your intentions for the Living One in the second part of PS:T (yours).
I reasoned him out of existance in the game. So I doubt if I'll be bringing him back.

Very comfortable, DM, VERY comfortable!
I'm sure the Nameless One has had the same intentions. But did you see my post? "Justice is Eternal"
quote:
The practical or insane incarnation?
Both. I don't think there was more than One person nevertheless all faces he had.

You can reason Vailor out of existence as well, I believe... I'm sure I did it while playing with the dialogue options... _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

@servii: To quote the Nameless One when he unmade Vailor: "Justice is flawed." _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

Really??
And who was your opponent in the pre-final battle (for evil alignment).
You can break the weapon of Justice, not the Justice itself.
If it was the same in life... |

"What *defines* justice, Vhailor? What IS it, really?"
*JUSTICE is defined by LAW.*
"And what is law, Vhailor?"
*LAW is the tool by which JUSTICE is served.*
"And what makes the laws, Vhailor?"
*LAW is defined by JUSTICE.*
"That's a circular argument, Vhailor - it's meaningless. You say justice is defined by law, which is defined by justice."
*LAW -IS- defined by JUSTICE.*
"Living men and women make laws, Vhailor - are the laws they make 'just?'"
*LAWS are JUST.*
"But if these laws are made by living men and women - who, as *you've* said, are NOT innocent, then haven't the laws been tainted by their hands?"
*NOTHING that lives is INNOCENT. Yet LAW rises ABOVE the flesh and blood. FROM IMPERFECTION PERFECTION MAY BE MADE. UNJUST LAWS may be REFINED. BLED OF THEIR EVIL.*
"Then you admit laws are not always perfect - but if these same laws define justice, then isn't *justice* imperfect as well?" Vhailor was silent.
"Vhailor - there is NO justice. All you do in the name of justice is meaningless - your LIFE is meaningless."
My words seemed to echo, gathering power as I spoke them. As I did, the embers in Vhailor's eyes flickered - and then guttered out. His armor collapsed, the axe and the metal plates clattering to the ground with a *crash.* As they struck the ground, however, they raised clouds of dust - ash and rust particles rising from the metal as the plates and axe aged, decayed, and disintegrated right before my eyes. All that remained were a few pitted metal plates as gravestones that Vhailor ever existed.
Bye, bye Vhailor. I love this game. _________________ Freeeeeeedom! Thank heavens it's summer!

Yep, I can't agree more. I just finnished the game after countless times of starting it for my first time (actually, just finnished 30 min. prior to this post). The last few chapters were breathtaking. Playing a mage was awesome... those spells just look too cool! |

I agree I think the story really builds up in quality as it goes. Unlike most games which seem to get less involved as you go.
By the time you reach the last city area, so much cool stuff is going on. Theres a trip to hell with the skull tower, a brothel a huge golem. Etc etc. Theres just so much to that game its cool. |

Spoilers!
PS:T has the best game ending among many CRPGs i ever played. If you really follow the stories for each characters and the plot, the game strongly building up interesting NPCs background, interwoven into ours main character' story and main theme in the plot.
The last portion of the game answered many questions, although not all, but enough for a very satisfactory ending. After the long and perilous journey, and when finally everything coming to an end, the ending was in such a way that we actually felt hard to say goodbye or to end the fellowship. But still there must be an end to the story, the end of Nameless One's torment, and to free your companions fate that bonded to you for so long.
The very memorable last few sequences: Nameless One get up and standing on a high ground, staring into horizon and the on going BloodWar, then picking up an axe and start walking forward. It surely not "live happily ever after" kind of ending, but it definitely reiterated the question "what/nothing can changes the nature of a man?."
I like the Fallout ending too: main character walking alone and slowly fading into desert with his back facing us - classic stuff. The Fallout 2 ending was copying the first game ending style if i remember correctly. Still, the ending crack me up when it telling the results of main character actions, among them "some years later a boy was born by the daughter (of New Reno boss?), which looks suspiciously look-alike to the hero that passing by the town many years ago..." (paraphrased). _________________

There are a few endings.
One of them, the most common one, the nameless one picks up his axe and just enters into the endless war going on in hell ( I dont recall its name)
There are other ones also though, that deal with the nameless one permanently dying. |

If you suicide with the dagger you can get from the massive golem smith yes... you get a game over screen. It's not much of an ending, however. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

I never tried the dagger. But the ending, I think, to what you are refering to, I wonder if is just some generic "death scene". Is it the same thing you get when you don't cooperate with Lothar and demand for him to return Morte? |
