"MeatBug" bug?

I can pick up every object Ive had to with the ctrl-up thing, my inventory is full of stuff. But I cant pick up the stupid meatbug, for the cook. I kill it, put my weapon away, highlight it, it ctrl-arrow up, and my inv comes up, and the "bugmeat" comes up on the other side of the screen and in the center. But it wont go into my inventory, ive tried every button on the keyboard, its maddening. WTF, is this a program bug or is there a special procedure for picking up dead insects, what?

When getting things from a creature's inventory (i.e. meat from an animal, loot from someone you kill) it works like the trade screen. The item must be highlighted, then hit ctrl (or LMB) + the right arrow key. The item from the creature's inventory is now moved to yours.
