NWN's uber cheesy damage resist belts needed to make the game playable with non combat classes are also perfectly compatible with the AD&D ruleset ... it still makes a mockery of them though.
D&D without parties is silly, and AI is still not good enough to control party members ... so still the only way to use the ruleset and get good combat out of it is full party control. That doesnt mean you cant still have a main character with which to identify much more than any other party members, BG/PST/Arcanum are good enough proof of that. But D&D is a combat centric ruleset, to build a game on it while castrating combat is a disgrace.
Light or Dark points, gotta collect them all ... interaction the pokemon way. That just made the whole thing more staged and jarring to me. I have rarely felt so on the rails in a cRPG as in SW-Kotor. In the end I was just going through the motions to see the pretty pictures and the Light ending (I dont play evil or neutral, I never do ... in D&D terms I like chaotic good). |
