Will the Gothic series ruin The Elder Scrolls 4?

Im a Huge Fan of the Gothic series.

But Gothic 1 ruined Morrowind for me. I had been waiting forever for the release of Morrowind, I belived at the time it would be the greatest game ever made. While I was waiting, I happened across a demo of gothic 1, I became instantly addicted, I ordered the game... And wow. Gothic 1 was increadiable!!!! I could not put it down.

Then a few months later Morrowind was released.. I bought it, With Excitment. Only to Play it, and find there wasnt very much activity to the npcs. Morrowind's World just wasnt alive like gothic 1. It made it very hard to play morrowind. I just couldnt get into the game.

My question is, Will Gothic 3, Be so great that. The Elder Scrolls 4 in comparison will just seem so dull?

I do not Wish that to be case. I Hope that both games will be Masterpieces.
Like the Original Gothic was, And to a lesser exstant Gothic 2.

Well, i think time will tell. But the high points of the Gothic's have always been the NPC interaction and the dialogs and the lively world.
Morrowind is more for the type of gamer who likes stats

G3 and Oblivion will be two very different games, so it depends on what you want in a RPG. You can hardly compare the two games. The two development teams have very different standards and focus on different aspects.

first off, I think Oblivion will be released before GIII and secondly I read that Oblivions NPC's will be much better then those in Morrowind. So I think you have nothing to worry about yet

Neither can "ruin" the other in my opinion. They can both happily co-exist and that is better for us! Late 2005 / Early 2006 will be a great time for RPG players!!!

Elkston said it. I happen to be looking forward to both games because I like both series - one can't ruin the other for me. All a game can do is ruin itself if it's not what I expect it to be.

Amen to that

But imagine if you are a poor little student (like me) and you can only afford one of them. Now, that would be cruel wouldn't it.

A cruel fate indeed. Purchasing games for a HW/SW store has its obvious advantages - I can get all the games I want for all platforms available. But being a student has its advantages, too - I bet you have more time to play your games than I do!

It's a bit early to discuss about which game will 'kill' the other, and why, when they're both not out yet. If there's sufficient time between the releases, there will be no (sales) effect at all... and both franchises may be CRPGs but still are geared towards different target groups/ fill different ecological niches.
In short: we'll see.

Indeed, i have certainly more time for games than someone else who has to work eight hours a day. Nonetheless i don't play so much games because there are a lot of other more productive things you can do. The last game i played was Vampire Redemption because i got it cheap from eBay.

I suggest you paint this on a big piece of paper, and go sit in a shopping mall with it, with a hat upside down in front of you. I'm sure the people will care for your cruel fate and give you enough money to buy the collectors edition of both games.

Another way is to work once on a free day so you have enough money to buy both, games are not THAT expensive, are they?

I would feel pretty sorry for you, seriously. I don't want to miss any of these games but my primary choice would be gothic III

Btw, welcome to the boards Ratavuk, I hope you're a stayer!

You don't have to be sorry because in 3 month i will work more frequently so that i think that until G3 will be out i will have enough cash to be able to buy it when it's available yehaaa, now what are you thinking now . I think that i would even start taking a credit to play G3. So it's not the Gothic series that ruins the Elder Scrolls series but it's the Gothic series that ruins me .

Thanx for your reception Tolgerias
