Yippee! I'm back in business! Tech problems solved |
|
After struggling with Morrowind causing reboots on my new, "improved" computer setup, and a few weeks of frustration, I am back in business.
It seems that the culprits were either DirectX9, or the newest nVidia drivers. I'm now back to DX 8.1, and am using the drivers that came with my new GeForce4 card. I can now play Morrowind at very high resolutions, with all the video "stuff" on just about maximum, and does it ever look great. Much, mcuh better than the first time I played it.
Now if I could only figure out what kind of character to play. I keep coming back to the Dark Elf Spellsword, but that's what I was last time around. Decisions, decisions... |

Glad to hear you're back in business and it wasn't a hardware failure. |

I am using DX9 without any problem. There is thousnds system configurations out there with variety of combinations in software & hardware. So if one person got problems doesn't mean all people will have same problems. Unless the case widely reported. |

You hear all sorts of things about DX versions, and the one I hear the most is that you shouldn't install any of the ".0" versions (ie 8.0, 9.0) and should wait until the ".1" versions come out. Who knows?
I too am glad it wasn't a hardware failure. I am also very fortunate to have a friend who has the patience of Job when it comes to monkeying around with my computer all the time (he understands the importance of a fully functional gaming machine). Thanks to eveyone who made suggestions about what could conceivably be wrong, because based on those suggestions we were able to pin it down pretty fast. |
