Ashes - Two Worlds Collide: Site Update |
|
There's a couple of fairly new updates at the <a href="http://ashes.lalista.org/" target="_blank">Ashes - Two Worlds Collide</a> site:<blockquote><em>Since the bughunting season ended and the code was essentially cleaned by the last ghost bugs, a few things happened. The terrain is getting bumpy: it's not a new engine feature, it's a nasty metaphore; the code is becoming slightly unmanageable for the single coder I am, so progress slowed down a bit. Meanwhile, ShadowMoses' raid disks crashed abruptly and a few interesting models he did in the last month are lost (insert the unavoidable motivational fall). But we are a war machine, aren't we? So, the terrain may be bumpy but it won't stop us from moving on, although slowly. What's new?

<br>- Stackable events: now each item can trigger a chain of events, which allows us to construct structured scripts from a set of simple basic procedures.
<br>
<br>- Independent heads: heads are now detached from the body itself of the human npcs, so that they can look here and there, we can add more variety to npcs, and.. perhaps perform beheadings
<br>
<br>- Equippable items: human npcs can now hold things in their hands. So that a warrior may hold his sword and shield, for example - while a farmer may hold a scythe, a blacksmith may hold a hammer, and so on.

Fascinating stuff but...
When I go to buy a Porsche and the dealer tells me; "It has an acid dipped 1979/911 chassis and your choice of 3.6L or twin turbo motor." I tend to reply;
"Yeah, but is it hot?"
Will this game be fun? |

You're right. That's was probably a post which had to go in the "DEV diaries forum" of Ashes, rather than on the front page. Nonetheless, I had the urge to display that we were all but dead. Sometimes heaps and heaps of code see the light without influencing the "visual" side of the game, so that there's nothing show... but there's a lot to say |
