Failed Quest

My first problem:

I met Zandalar fairly early in the game as I was wandering around killing Orcs to gain experience.

He told me to meet him at the Dwarven Bread Inn, but I got side tracked by so much going on and didn't get there for quite a while.

Now that I've finally been there I have another quest to find him in the castle, but the first quest is marked "failed." If I had gotten there sooner would I have gotten credit for the quest?

I took another quest from a lady who wants me to find her little boy. A friend told me that I won't be able to do that one until I'm way up there in levels.

How do you know if a quest is time sensitive?

I have another problem:

I read a list of "Definitely DON'T DO IT tips" that said "Don't kill the assassin before finding the clues (corpses) at theburning wagon ....you'll bust the quest."

How many assassins are there in the game to kill? I met the scared knight and shortly thereafter met the assassin in the orchid. Since I had no choice but to fight the assassin or turn over the knight, I killed the assassin. Have I ruined some other quest by doing this?

Thanks!

Problem 1: Quests are not time sensitive. Zandalar not being at the Inn is part of the plot.
You can do the little boy quest at your level. You'll just have to come back later if you want to kill the baddie. Adds drama. Good roleplay opportunity.

Problem 2: You don't have a problem there. These are two seperate quests. There's a burning wagon in the orc territory that has some stranded drivers. You'll be given this quest by a merchant. Don't attempt it until you speak to the merchant.

If you need to, download my walkthrough here. I detail every quest and use the same titles that are in your journal so you can quickly find the quest in question. However, it does contain major spoilers.

Thanks! Actually, I have the quest from the merchant to find the lost caravan. But it will be ages before I go to the Orc territory. I didn't even know there was one. (Are you sure you aren't thinking of Gothic? )

Again, thanks. I'm glad to know I haven't locked myself out of anything and I'll go get the boy a.s.a.p. U R right, it doesn't make sense to wait to go find a lost kid!

Instead of starting a new thread I'll just tack on here ...

I have escaped from Iona's dungeon, and crawled over most of the sewers, but can not find an entrance to the castle.

I went to try and get info out of the theives guild, but I do not want to join. How the HECK am I supposed to get into the castle w/o joining? I have found a hatch in the floor in the poor quarter that MIGHT lead to the sewers, but I can not find the key.

Should I just keep pounding my face against the sewers ... er ... should I just continue combing the sewers?

I forgot to tell you that I already have your guide. Thank you! It is a beautiful, detailed guide. I have it bound in a three ring binder.

But I'm only using it now to know what quests ae available so that I don't miss any. I don't want to read too much before I have tried it myself. Sometimes getting a small hint on the board keeps me from reading the whole solution.

But I value the guide for more than a list of quests. After I've done one, I read the guide to see if I missed anything. Of course, if I'm really stuck I read it before I'm done!

This is post to Lintra sub-thread.

I may not remember that too well, but weren't you thrown into Iona's dungeon just AFTER you ere expelled from the castle?

If so then you will not be able to return (unless you use some tricks with the teleportation stone later in the game).

Otherwise, I think it is possible to find a way into the castel, somewhere in the sewers, without joining Thieves guild.
However, I think it is not possible to advance further in the main quest without joining. But my memory may be wrong again.
I remember I wasn't too keen on joining, too, but had no choice. You loose a few points of REP but there are also advantages. Later, I even liked to use some thief skills.

And remember, the Path of Divine (skills you will like in future) is in the Survivors tree - thay cannot be that bad.

Wow!

@Lintra: You do not have to join the Thieves Guild. You can find the entrance on your own. It's just that if you do join the thieves guild, then they mark the entrance on your map. Enter the sewers through the merchant square. The sewers are huge, but you should be able to find it.

@Val - Yes your walk through is really impressive! * Since Lintra can not use smilies he hands Val a large bouquet of spring blooms arranged by his friend Alex the florist (he works downstairs from here and supplies Mrs Lintra with new and really nice bouquets on a fairly regular basis - heck - we are on a first name basis Alex and I@!) *

I had a feeling that was the case, I just can not find the blasted thing. I haven't much of the sewers left to explore. If I am still stuck after my next session I will ask for more help.

@ And no, dte (if you come here), it is NOT because I am always bailing myself out of trouble *grin*. She just likes flowers and is stuck at home all day and can not even LOOK for a job until my long term work permit clears. It is the least I can do for her.

Have a look at Moriendor's very useful map here:

The southern most red flag is in the area of the underground entrance to the castle.

*Lintra bangs his head against the table multiple times.*

You know, I walked right by it at least twice. Good. Now I don't mind having a cheat, it will save me the hours of walking around running my cursor over all the walls - which is what I was going to do next when I filled in the small amount of the map I have not gotten to.

Thanks Val! You are, when not shredding me *really big grin*, the best!

The only quest that is timed is the escort for the healers quest. You have a few weeks.

The meet zandalor quest is automatically failed.

Ok the assasins dealing with the burning cart are inside a cave. So the assasin you killed in the farmland is different. I do believe you can break that quest also, by killing him before talking to the knight. There is a trail from the burning cart, the merchants is in the open merchant area.

But dont worry greatly about that, unless you really are trying to do every single thing.
Minor quest breaking is not a bug just think of it as natural misfortune that you meet something too early.

Thanks for the info about the timed quest. Luckily I did get that done in time, but it was just luck. I was stuck doing the catacombs so I went south exploring instead!

Maybe I had bad timing with the Marcus/lost supply train quest too. I met the two arguing cart drivers before I met Marcus. Besides getting the auto video clip, I could do nothing with them except trade. Then Marcus told me to look for his delivery cart. I went back to the two fellows, human and dwarf, who then decided to go for a beer. I followed them to the Dwarven in but couldn't pick them out from the other patrons. Did I lose out on this quest?

Yes, I am trying to do all the quests. That's the fun of the game. I'm so glad someone here told me I didn't have to wait until I was at a high level before saving the little boy from the vampire. What a kick when I asked a patron in the Dwarven Inn for news and he recounted to me how an adventurer had saved the boy by giving her own blood!

Um... wrong cart drivers. The cart you're looking for is in the orc lands. There is a road a short ways east of the Dwarven Bread Inn. Follow it south. You'll find Marcus' cart drivers on that road.
