| What kind of character are you playing? |
|
I'm playing with a character favoring magic and close combat (warrior). After I finish the game with this one, I intend to go back and play as a pure thief to find the areas I'll miss. So far, the mage/warrior combination is working fairly well for me. How about you? What character type are you using and what do you think about the game's playability with your preferred play style?  |

Thief/mage here... I very rarely used my weapon, relying mostly on Harm for the easy stuff and fireball/life drain for everything else. I just finished the game a little while ago, and I didn't find the final fight very hard (at level 9... I've done everything imaginable, and I'm still 30k xp short for L10). Basically I ended with object/technical/casting all at 60, and close combat at 75... stealth was at 50, but given the ineffectiveness of pickpocket even with full stealth gear on, I think those were mostly wasted points.
IMO, magic is a bit too powerful.. easy stuff dies to harm without you having to do anything, and most other things can be one-shotted by a fireball unless you're in an area you don't belong in yet. Anything tougher than that (like, say, 2 liches at once in the crypt) and you can just chug mana potions while life drain is active.
I can definitely see the game being a lot harder for people who use only scrolls for their casting. |
