Could you help me with the thieves guild quest in which i must free a thief from prison?
I know I must steal some dwarwen artifact from a merchant, (Ebastien Ence or some kind) but he doesn' t have any, and if I tell him something about it, he replies he is an honest merchant.
I think I've stolen it before, maybe. What to do?

i know what mission you are talking about, i would suggest that you skip it and go to another thieves leader and do all their missions, it is possible to get to gentleman stacy without doing that mission

go to the same room where that merchant is and unlock that chest that is inside and open it inside are those artefacts(when your unlocking it the stuff will only be reported to the impirials(you wont get attacked) but when youll take the stuff immidieatly run for the doors cuz theyll attack oyu(the guys in the room)
