I found what caused "Access Violation" crash for m |
|
I had this error randomly from 5 minutes to 1 hour,
only in this game all other games works OK for me.
I checked all post here about this error.
I follow the Access violation error report and finaly found what caused the error
Now I played two days (10 hours/day straigth) without any problems
Facts I found first:
- It's not hardware problem
- It's something to do with memory
- Gothic2 needs a lot of virtual memory (paging file)
- If paging file is too small you'll get "Access Violation" error
because game can't read from some locations
- This is actually a bug. I have option "on" that game should resize paging file if need it.
So you must just resize your paging file and you'll never get "Access Violation" error.
It's irrelevant how much physical RAM you have (I have 1GB of RAM)
You shoud resize your Virtual memory (paging file size) to at least 1.5GB
You must do this in Windows not in game
Choose "custom size" and use 1536 MB for Initial size and don't forget to click button "Set" befor you go out. Windows will restart !!!
Than check that file "pagefile.sys" is in root of your HardDisk and it's size shoud be 1.5 GB
I hope this will help someone, because this game is one of the best I ever played |
