Deus Ex. That's what got me absolutely hooked on RPGs.
I'm still mourning the ruin of the title in that ridiculous sequel though.

I guess the really first one was Treasure of Tarmin on Intellivision. I had AD&D as well, but that, in my opinion, doesn't count, because you could not develop your character...
Spoiler:
BTW, did you notice that you don't have to kill the last dragon, just run and grab the crown? (in AD&D)

The funny part is that, after trying hard to derive the important parts out of the manual of T of T with a dictionary (not native English), I noticed that some numbers on the screen went up after I killed a number of creatures. So this must have been my first experience with the RPG and character development concept.

If we are strictly talking about CRPG's, and not the console ones, then I'd say Bard's Tale on C64 was the first one that got me hooked days and nights. I somehow managed to miss the whole Ultima series and played Ultima VII as the first one of the series, already on PC.

First RPG for me was I think on the Atari 2600...Starpath's DragonStomper..it was a whole lot of fun and much deeper than Adventure...considering that it loaded from a cassette tape and was about 6 times larger than the average 2600 game.

In high school I played Wizardry I on the school's Apple IIe. During the summer vacation I got a C64 along with Zork I, Temple of Apshai and Ultima III. Needless to say that summer vacation was mostly spent waiting for that C64 disk drive to load.
