Crypt Portcullis Question

Hi,
I am stuck in the crypt near the zombie hunter body. I cannot get the portcullis to open. I have placed things on all the pressure plates, played with the levers until they broke off (not really), and opened all the doors surrounding it but nothing makes the portcullis open.

I read some previous hints but they did not help - and I am not talking about the code from the zombie hunter's body because I can't get to that room yet. Obviously, this has been easy for everyone else because not many topics - I really appreciate any help, as specific as possible. Thanks a lot.

Yeah. its weird

Yeah, this was a weird one. The portcullis you are talking about is the "front door" so to speak... the door that is going to open once you throw all the switches (in the right order - one switch gets pulled twice) then the "back door" opens. That front door didn't open till much later for me.

I didn't see any clues in the game as to which order the switches were supposed to be thrown. Check the RPGDot game guide to Arx, or search the archives here maybe, for the proper sequence.

The lever order is mentioned in the note you find on the hunter's corpse.

I think it's 113 or 311 or 133 or something...
Anyway, 1 is for the leftmost, 3 the rightmost. Once you've got them in the right order you get a little sound like when you've finished a quest and you know you've done it.

Then put rocks on all three plates and the doors should open. I've noticed that when I return from the outside and the rocks are already there I have to remove two rocks and place them back again for the porticulie to open again, so if you maybe if you place the weights on the plates before you do the combination you'll have to move the 2 rocks as I mentioned.

Sorry, I thought you were talking about the 4th level of the crypt where the statue is pointing...

For that one you need to look where the statue is pointing... Pretty darn easy

thanks for the tips - I made it finally. I thought wisdom came with age but these are puzzles I was able to figure out 5 or 10 years ago. Thanks again, addictive game!
