How do you go from DX 9 to DX 8
   

i cant figure out how to get back my old version of direct x, i cant even find somewhere to uninstall it any help?

There is no uninstaller. You have to find an external tool which can uninstall DirectX. Use Google.

I would install Windows all over again ,just to be safe.
But you should try Gorath's advice first.Then wait to see if your regs go crazy
I'm curious why would you want to go from DX9 to DX8.

Stability issues, compatibility issues, older graphics card... I can name a few more. Some games force you to install it, like Vice City... I, for once, have a dx8 card, and I'm not comfortable with having the latest release, simply because it slows down my system.
As for how to uninstall it, it's all insecure. You are risking all that much to damage the system (talking about current os installation)... Must say I know my way around the PC, but didn't dare to undergo such a procedure...
