Planning on getting MW today... but a few questions first |
|
This is my dads computer and I really dont know what video card he has in the cpu... can anyone tell me how I can find out and any other information for the requirements needed to play MW? What should I do once I get the game?
Thanks for listening to me, and take care.
(PS... I think i have radeon 8500... but will that suffice? Im not sure if thats it but im trying to find out.) |

Video card:
right click on desktop, go to last "I do not know how to call it". There you will se what video card do you have.
If it is Radeon 8500, everything will be fine, very fine. Just install according our recommendations: defragment (or format), etc. |

you can right click on the my computer icon and go to properties. Select the device manager tab and then click on the + next to display adapters. It should tell you there. |

It seems to be not really good. It is probably older generation than 8500 and VE = value edition, it means even weaker that full graphic card of pervious Radeon version.
If you can find papers from your PC, you will get even better informations. |

I am not really sure, I think it is somewhere around GForce2 MX, not GTS. If I am right then it means you will be able to play it, but you must striclty follow our advices and you will ofcourse encounter slowdowns and you will not see many effects. |

1) uninstall
2) defragment (or format)
3) install again
1 - 3 not necessary if you defragmented your disk not long before MW
4) disable all backgrounds programs (visible)
5) use some utility to disable all invisible background programs (if you are skillful PC user, you can use msconfig.exe, just type msconfig into Run in your Start menu)
6) use remove safe disk hack, it will greatly improve performance
7) turn off realtime shadows (big problem for performance even with highest PCs)
8) set visible distance to half
9) AI distance to half
10) 3D sound off (EAX off)
11) make yourself sure you use newest drivers |

My video card, under the display adapter states: ASUS V7100Pro V11.01C. The last time I had my computer upgraded, the guy put that card in. I have been able to play every game so far; but as you know, I don't have Morrowind yet (I love living in the boon docks). Have you ever heard of that card? |

Yes, it is something below GForce2 GTS. It means it is not really good one for MW. |

Just a thought, I tried Morrowind on my slower work PC, which has a T-bird 950 256MB ram and GF2 GTS and it plays smoothly at 800 x 600 with view at half. No water effects, but still fun! Fun is the object here, isn't it? If you want 100 frames per second, go play Quake 3. _________________ "Alright, but just remember you're still suspecto numero uno. It can help. It will, but not very much.
You can do it with some tools that are for free. You can for example download PowerStrip from here www.entechtaiwan.com.
Then you will have easy access to two sliders (overlocking memory and core).
You should do it in small steps (5 mhz, max. 10 mhz) and try stability everytime.
Also check if you graphic card has fan, if not, buy one. |
