AC2: Free 15-Day Trial

The 'Asheron's Call II' insider website has been updated with the announcement of a free 15-day trial of Microsoft's MMORPG sequel.
Basically a great idea but why is the client file hosted by GameSpy (FilePlanet)? You'd think that a multi-billion $$$ company would be able to afford for the hosting/traffic on fast, free, non-waiting-in-line servers of its own.

Take it from a beta 1 tester and a 2 month subber this game is horrid. Server pops of 5k at prime time tell the whole story

Graphics alone dont make a game. Especially one that you have to pay monthly for.

Regardless of whether the game is good or bad, a 15-day free trial smells bad for AC2... It's a pattern, and if they're offering a 15-day free trial it's because they're admitting that they don't have enough players. Soon we'll hear about Turbine laying off people that are "non-essential" to the game.

I don't agree. I would love it if every game had a free trial. That way I wouldn't have to spend $40 in order to find out if I like it or not. I wish Shadowbane had a free trial.

You dont agree to what exactly? It is clear that AC2 is not as popular as anticipated. The original AC was far more popular in its day. I remember because i was playing. There was usually at least 3000 peeps per server at peak hours. AC2 has less than 600. You figure it out. This one is obviously in trouble. Lack of subscribers == fate of Earth & Beyond...
