S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Oblivion Lost |
|
Though I usually prefer fantasy settings in my RPGs against modern and futuristic ones (excluding Fallout, of course), I must say that S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Oblivion Lost is one of my most anticipated games. Part FPS, part survival-horror, and part RPG, Stalker looks amazing. The eye-popping graphics (better that Half-Life 2s), the incredibly detailed environments, and the 20 square mile zone to explore look to astound. Stalker takes place in 2006 in Chernobyl, 20 years after the nuclear disaster. The world's governments are eager to get their hands on "artifacts" of great value that litter the zone. They pay stalkers, such as you, to get these things for them. However, it's not as easy as find the artifact, bring it back to base. Other stalkers, as well as the military are looking for the same things you are looking for. Also, there are supernatural zombies and other creatures around, and they're not friendly. Certain types of zombies can take control of people, such as the military, and turn them against you. Different factions of stalkers fight each other, and scientists and researchers illegally vie for your finds. It's currently on track for release in Summer 2004. Check the game out at www.stalker-game.com
Here's another link. This one is to the Gamespot previews for the game: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/action/stalkeroblivionlost/previews.html _________________ OMG! WTF?! MONKEYS!!!!

I've been following it for a while and it does look pretty good. I'm not sure it looks better than HL2 but I guess that's all a matter of taste. |

Yeah, it may be a matter of taste. The good news (for me, at least) is that I will be able to run the game with my Geforce 2 MX/MX400. _________________ OMG! WTF?! MONKEYS!!!!

I don't know, honestly. Game sure looks promising, but I like original idea of Stalker the movie (by Tarkovsky) and Stalker the book (by Strugatsky brothers) so much, that I'm afraid I will be offended of the idea of the game if it is more of a shooter _________________ - Druids do not fight with metal weapons! It's an RPG by any standards. It is a shooter, but ammunition is scarce, so you need to save your bullets. While there will be shoot-outs, the game promises more immersiveness and questing than shooting. Check out the website I mentioned above. _________________ OMG! WTF?! MONKEYS!!!!

I had been following this game since last year, but not anymore for several months (just wait until release and see what gamers/reviewers said). Are you sure about this?; the last i heard (couple months ago) not only GF2MX, even the original GF2 (better) won't be supported by this game. The min requirement is GF3 and above. The developer will only support GF2 if they have enough time to do that (need to writes specific codes for older graphics card). _________________

It says on the website under the engine section that it will run on all second generation D3D cards including TNT and Voodoo2. It says that it is optimized for the Geforce 2. Check the website. I also read on Gamespy that there will be a high-res and a low-res version of the game available. The low-res version will probably be what I'll have to get. _________________ OMG! WTF?! MONKEYS!!!!
