And idea for a more unique rpg |
|
a first/third person military rpg,
where you can take the training to become a specialist in several weapons/technology and use it to complete missions.
Set in a graphics engine like gothic 2 ... with a world as open as morrowind (of course with more to do)... and a tactical feel of ghost recon...
you could gain experience points for defeating enemies ... unjamming your rifle in the heat of battle...
anyone think this would be an ok idea want to help out with some ideas? _________________ NIL MORTIFI, SINE LUCRE

First of all there is one thread My vision of perfect CRPG that talks exactly about it. And second, you just described “System Shock 2” _________________ Money - An article which may be used as a universal passport to everywhere except heaven, and as a universal provider of everything except happiness. |

how did i describe system shock 2 ... system shock 2 is linear and not really a military rpg ... sure it has the three classes but its not as broad as im talking, i mean like present day... with realistic weapons...
I mean like send you away to some third world countries on missions to take out druglords or (like in hitman) or some generic save hostage missions like in rainbow six ... not get to the end of the game and beat the computer (ala system shock 2)
sure ss2 was an awesome game. Scary as hell but awesome... but its not what im talking about. _________________ NIL MORTIFI, SINE LUCRE

But these games aren’t RPG type, are they (Hitman, Rainbow 6)? More like strategy/tactical combat. There are quite few games on the market right now similar to these two mention above.

Jagged Alliance 2 ? But this one is isometric tactical turn-based. "Commandos 3" is around the corner, WW2 setting but real time.
I’m sure when SW-KotOR PC version hits the stores we will have something to you liking. _________________ Money - An article which may be used as a universal passport to everywhere except heaven, and as a universal provider of everything except happiness. |

thats why i want to have an rpg game similar to them ... im sick of a single soldier being able to kick an large amount of baddies asses without xp ... i think it would be cool to encorporate stealth and accuracy and your ability to hold a gun through its recoil better with xp points ...
anyways why argue with me about it ... when thats the type of game i want why not give suggestions instead of insulting my idea? _________________ NIL MORTIFI, SINE LUCRE

I’m sorry if you’ve taken my response as an insult (I didn’t say it was a bad idea), wasn’t intentionally. But if you think about it, even Fallout might classify to your description (although different view). _________________ Money - An article which may be used as a universal passport to everywhere except heaven, and as a universal provider of everything except happiness. |

You ever looked at Deus Ex? Its probably the closest thing to what you are saying.
Sadly, its still a "One man against the world" type of game. But it has most of the other elements you are talking about. _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |

No harm intended
On the side note, there are quite few games that never reach North America and only by some coincidence one might find out about them (seldom in English). Of course these games are “far from good and good from far” but you never know maybe your idea is somewhere a project at hand.
Also there are other games like Inquisitor or Goldenland (maybe not the one you looking for) which still they don’t have a publisher in here. But reading few reviews and checking the features of these particular games, I really would like to put my hands on them. _________________ Money - An article which may be used as a universal passport to everywhere except heaven, and as a universal provider of everything except happiness. |

I'd be all for RPG FPSs in any variety. I am getting sick of generic FPSs so it would be a nice change to have more Deus Ex types of games. I also think the premise would work on Metal Gear type games. Something like a MG/Fallout hybrid would be nice. You could up stats like stealth, diplomacy and all out battle and use them to complete military/spy type missions. Of course this would be less like what you are describing and more of an isometric game. |
