New sound file up and look at this:

our programmer Carsten Edenfeld made up a list of some engine renewals. the
gothic II engine is based on the first part's technology, but we submitted it to a general overhaul. besides an optimized performance, carsten added a bunch of new features. these are only a few points, we'll extend the list later.

- engine makes better use of hardware (environmental mapping, detail textures...)
- optional first person camera avaliable
- plants, leaves, rain and some other systems like the particle system react to wind.
- water and sky look far better due to a new system for both.
- the interface has been simplified, optimized mouse and joystick support. nevertheless the keyboard controls are still avaliable, 'though they're slightly changed.

That is from the gothic 2 site.

WooHoo!!!

They probably won't disclose the system requirements until one month before release, until they're done optimizing and testing.

well it has to be said, that u can turn off all of the additional features in the
options, which we implemented since Gothic I,
so that u could play the game also
with "older" computers.
the freaks can even fine tune the settings in the .INI file,
that was also in G I, and everybody liked it, so we kept it

but since the texure sizes are increased to approx. 512x512
(some are even higher), i think it'll be recommended to have a 64 MB
graphics card.
for sure u can even toggle down the texture size by a slider in the
options menu, as u can do in gothic I.
but this will also decrease your visual excitement...

anyway, these days a good graphics device is recomended in any 3D based game, because of a higher polycount.
a gforce II chip for example is capable to render our polys nice:)
so we dont expect to much from u

hope this information can help u
cu
