Finally figrured out a decent way to use controls in Gothic. My suggestion? Don't play it like a FPS or 3D melee. Play it like Tomb Raider and forget the mouse for the most part. Map Left, Right, Forward, Backward to the cursor keys, Strafe/Jump to Right Shift, Action to Right CTRL.
Right hand on the cursor keys, left hand on R-Shift and R-CTRL. Leave the mouse alone until you need to aim a ranged attack at something way up above you. Worked like a charm for me. No more tying fingers into a knot, and easier to circle-strafe the opposition. I managed to beat a bloodfly at level 1 with a pickaxe. |

What can I say, I'm easily amused sometimes... heh.

Itīs no surprise that keyboard only works good for you. Mouse support was added to the game very late, after the complaint of a printmag.
I play with ASDW + mouse. Works great, no reason to remap a single key.  |
