Eschalon: Book 1 - Update @ Official Site |
|
Basilisk Games has kicked up a quick update for 'Eschalon: Book 1'. Here is the entire post:
The people demand an update! Sorry for being so quiet lately, but don't you worry: the game is still in full production mode. Lately we've been improving the tools (the map editor and script engine) used to make the game maps, and before that a new lighting engine went in that not only looks nice but is used to determine ToHit and Hide In Shadows abilities based on how well you can see your enemy and vice-versa. Okay, we admit, some time has been spent playing Oblivion as well, but we swear it's for research purposes only. Anyways, expect a big Eschalon update sometime in May and thanks to everybody who stops by regularly just to check in.
|

By what criteria?
1.7 million units sold in the first 30 days = major letdown?
The average review rating being 95% = major letdown?
The Basilisk developers themselves admit they have been preoccupied because they are playing Oblivion. _________________ "For Innos!" |

By his own criteria, I suppose. You know, his personal opinions. If I only bought products that sell well or are widely praised, I wouldn't have had the opportunity to play some really good games. Besides, many of the RPGs that are rated high are mediocre and disappointing. Morrowind, Neverwinter Nights and KotOR, for example.
It would be strange if I let some reviewer decide what kind of games I should like. The next step would be letting him play the games for me so that i wouldn't have to. |

He didnt really say "personal opinion". But I hear you. Hey I own Dungeon Lords. Unfortunately in that case I should have let the reviewers decide. _________________ "For Innos!" |

Looking forward to this one! Hopefully this should tide this old-schooler over until Realms of Arkania 4.
I wonder how many chapters will be released before Grimoire? |

Ha! I'm not a gambling man, but I don't think you'd get too generous odds on that! |
