Puzzles, secret rooms, levers and platforms? |
|
Has anyone noticed if their are any puzzles like flipping levers or secret rooms and moving platforms in dungeons or anywhere else?
I have not found anything like that yet. Its something I really liked about dungeons in Daggerfall.
Love MW so far. Runs great for me on P3-800, GF3 and 512 ram. |

I know this is an old thread, but.. The question still stands: Has anyone found a single lever to pull? A hidden door (besides the one I found "from the wrong end" in Ebonheart)? A puzzle where you actually had to think, not just levitate and find stuff in the ceiling? I also miss these things from Daggerfall. Sure, Daggerfall's hidden rooms had no purpose, but it was still a feeling of accomplishment when you found them. |

Yeah, its been one of the disappointments for me in the game..i like the feel of a good puzzle and the sense of accomplishment in arriving at the correct solution...ahhh..for those halcyon days of Dungeon Master on the ST..i digress..i would like to hear of anyone who has found even the most basic puzzle too..
Regards.. |

I actually think they forgot to add even the most basic puzzle in this game! I have only found ONE lever to pull so far and that's a really obvious one that everyone who wants to follow up on the main quest has to pull.. Uhm.. Make that two now that I think about it.. Both obvious as hell. Kids stuff. |

I mentioned this in one of my posts too!
I think part of a RPG is figuring things out and that seems to be missing from this game. I haven't found anything like that so far.
Where’s the jungle temple with a entrance that has to be opened by some strange means like placing a skull on a pressure plate or something
As for platforms the jumping is so pitifully that I don’t think that is an option.
I really feel like they just kind of ran out of steam after they did all the great graphics.
Maybe by the next one they will have the graphics figured out and will spend more time on game play.
I haven’t finished the game yet so maybe there is more to come; I did find the break the prisoner out of the floating jail scenario to be challenging. It took me quite a while especially because I arrived there low on Magic and could not recover once there.
I finally had to jump off the catwalk to the roof of the building and climb down and get equipped better and come back again.
I still like the game but I hoped for more.

Yes thats true, there could be more of that kind of stuff. i never liked the lever games in Daggerfall, you would pull a lever, and then you might never find out that you just opened a secret door way on the other side of the dungeon. I hope we will see some plugins with good puzzles or riddles. |

I can live without levers, but can see why others would like them. Frankly I can live without puzzles and do so in my daily life with mixed success. _________________ I'm never right, so if you disagree with me you're probably on the right track. |

I really like the game, it has some great attributes but i sure miss puzzles and riddles..to walk gingerly around a corner only to be confronted with a pressure plate here, a cryptic message scrawled on a wall, a mysterious barrier needing to be overcome by brainwork and cunning, even a platform that is hard to reach other than levitation would be welcome..
I do hope some Modders with lots of spare time and imaginiation catch on to this great possibility.
All the best(still yearning for some puzzles a la Dungeon Master) |

Not to yank any chains but all this IS possible with the construction set.
You can make your own activators and scripts to make some really sick and twisted puzzles
If your more adventurous you may even want to get 3dsmax and the nif importer and make your own custom graphics!

I would happily make a mod if I could do any scripting. But my skills in that area are....hmm, "lacking."

I have every graphics program in the world including 3D Studio Max, so where do I get a program that will open the nif files and convert my files to the nif format.

There's a free tool that was put out with (IIRC) Freedom Force.
I'll see if I can't find you the link. |

Thanks I'll search for it too, but I will check back here, to see if you came up with anything.
You would think that they would have included it with the editor since they promoted the fact that you could do all this stuff.

I haven't found levers in the game so far, and I doubt they are there.
But this doesn't mean that puzzles are absent. There are some. A very basic one would be the book you should by for one informant - it's up to you which to buy. Others are more delicate, like clues to find a hidden treasure in some books. _________________ Rendelius
