Installation problems

Help!!!
I've had some problems with my computer and have deinstalled G2.
Now I try to install again but no way it will work.
It stops at some point on Play CD with afile speech1.fdv(or something) and I get a message with something like corrupted file.
How comes? A corrupted file on the original CD.
I'm not really a genious for PC's but this does not seem logical at all. My disk is not damaged except for some minor scratches, but further nothing special.
What to do now? I am addicted to G2 and quite desperate.
Now I am even starting to get angry. And I don't like to get angry......
Heeeeeeelp!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first thing you should try is an installation on a friendīs PC.

If it works on another pc you will know it is not the cd and is an install problem on your machine. I assume you have all antivirus programs off before doing the install. Do a search for that file and any JoWood files on your pc HD as well that may not have been deleted and get them off. If still having problems come back and post your pc specs, the exact error message and then see if someone has any ideas.

Instalation problems still going on

OK my firends I tried to install right now on my own freshly formatted computer and still is stops at the same place.
Someone suggested to copy 1st disk and try to install with a copy. I tried and when copying it topped at 57% and was completely blocked.
I think this is definitely damaged disk.
Any further suggestions? Maybe to send the old one to JoWood and get a new one in return or something?
Please help!

What advice do you need? You have a damaged CD. Look on your box who is the distributor or bring it back to the shop.

Well, no, we're not working for JoWooD, Piranha Bytes or any other party associated with Gothic. RPGDot belongs to the Jolt network; as RPGDot is (in the widest sense) non-commercial, the site and forums staff are volunteers.

Hey Dalmata,

You need to do a "verify" with a cd-file verification program/facility, it's not hard to do, just install and run it on the gothic 2 cd's, it will then show up all of the files (if any) which are corrupted.
There are many of these programs out there, freeware, shareware, etc'
i like to use the Nero cd writing program, of which you can get as trialware, you don't even need a cd burner to be able to use the cd verification part of it.

Give it a try, you never know?

He installed it before and he can't install from the same CD again. So it must be something wrong with the computer... I got the same issue, it just stops responding. Any suggestions besides bad disk? Dalmata, if you fixed it, please post your solution.

@Kreken,

Welcome to the forums,

And what was the result of the cd verification? - - If you post here with the result, e.g total data size, track type, which program you used etc' - - then that will help us to help you, we can tell you if it is correct or corrupted.

Dalmata , is this dialog : An 1/0 error ....... It is normally caused by bad media install or corruped file . ANd it's all I see, my computer is the same as dalmata , but the problem is not my computer, it's the disk . Because when I tried it late , in my shop 's computer, they say , it's cannot copy and has this problem , too . So , what can I do now , buy a new disk from other shop ?
