I think I've broken the game.

I attacked the Khaak base in Ore Belt and blew it to pieces. Literally, it seems, because 5 clusters of ore showed up immediately after. Captain Frankenfurter told me to pick up pieces, so I'm assuming that's what he meant. About this time, all hell broke loose. After some futile combat, I decided to live to fight another day and hit the jump drive.

Now that I've recovered and jumped back, those clusters are gone. Completely and totally missing. Frankenfurter still wants me to find the pieces, so I think I've broken the story.

Am I pooched?

The pieces you're looking for are called 'unknown objects' and they don't show up on the sector map as collectable goods for some reason. I suspect they're still bobbing around there... they're teal like missiles and cargo instead of blue like asteroid chunks.

Heh. I didn't have a hornet missile for that mission. I parked my M2 outside the 'base' and flew my TL in to scoop things up. Did 500,000 dollars worth of damage to the Hercules' paint job, though.

Thanks, Xen.

I went back to the scene of the crime last night. Before I found anything, that same mob of 3 M3's and a couple dozen smaller ships spawned on top of me again. My Nova died a bloody death.

Perhaps, now that I know what I'm looking for, I'll try once more. I've just about got enough cash saved to buy an M6 with full equipment. I might go ahead and invest in the better ship to improve my odds of surviving the mob. I'm guessing my progress in the story has exceeded my empire's progress.
