Slight problem with translation

Now… i have bought the German version of the game for 50$ because I really wanted to pay and it was the only game I found after a large period of time searching for it. I bought the second and I loved it and I wanted to play the first, naturally. My problem resides in my inability to comprehend the German language and writing. So I have downloaded a ripped version of the game. Now I do not like that version, it lacks the movies and sounds. I don’t mind hearing German voices as long as I comprehend what it is they are telling me. So I thought of adding the English subtitles from the ripped version into my German version. But I do not know which file I need to replace. There lies my problem… so could anyone tell me which file I should replace in order to change the German subtitles into English?

50$?? You mean 5 EUR, I hope.

I´ll move it to the general forum. The thread gets more traffic there.

Hmm, not an easy thing to solve. Basically, everything lies in the gothic\data folder, so what you need to do is compare what files lie in this folder in the german version and english version, and then copy over whatever files you have in both folders. The sound file is also in this folder, so replacing it with one should be possible. Remeber to rename whatever files you copy over though, to the german name. Otherwise it won't find the files.

Also, welcome to the forums, and let me know how it works out!

Just to get all these "please help with subtitles" threads up to date, I'm posting this here too.
