Demise 1.01 Interview @ WithinGames

WithinGames has conducted an interview Pharaoh Productions' CEO David Allen about the resurrected Demise and its upcoming release 1.01. However, this bit I read makes it not very interesting for me, as I own the 'old' version:
(2) With releasing v1.01 you´re going to put up a new purchase-system. Will there be any support for former released versions?

D.A.: Unfortunately not, 1.01 will be a stand-alone release that will need to be purchased by anyone who wishes to play the new version, or patch to future versions of the product.

That is the question: Whether or not the players of the previous version are willing to buy a game they already paid $49.00 plus shipping for.

The good thing about that is it won't be another $49.00. Maybe they will pay for it again when a new content patch is released. I don't think multiplayer is fun enough right now to warrant buying the game again, but maybe I would for ten dollars.

If he manages to fix multiplayer so it is possible to run the dungeon with other players, grouped, then I might pay more. As it is now, multiplayer is a solo game, which is why I don't play Demise online.

Charging for patches is just ignorant.

I too have the original and will not pay for it again. I think they should respect their original supporters and just patch them over.

A 1.01 patch where you have to buy the product again... someone PLEASE show me another example of somebody trying to pull this... my gawd...

Talk about an act of desperation to raise a _little_ money... What a pile of crap, not releasing a patch for people that already purchased said product. Problems with IPC Software or not... this goes beyond lame.

David Allen is an absolute flake... What little doubt there was needs no further proof.
