Please just fix the controls

First off, I wanna say that I love Gothic II, I'm addicted. But the most blatant, embarrassing flaw in the game is the selection code. C'mon, guys. If I look at an object and the label for that object pops up and I hit the Action key, I don't want to interact with the thing next to it. How hard is it to code the game to interact with whatever object is currently labelled?? This sloppy code has gotten me killed more than once (i.e. I fire an arrow at an attacking enemy and instead it flies and hits a paladin clear across the screen, who then proceeds to kick my ass).

Hey there antipode,

Welcome to the forums,

the interactive focus object distance and angle width value's can be finely
ajusted using the marvin facility (editor) that is built into the game, either
more keen or less depending on you own ability, don't forget once you
lock-on the focus object in combat you will stay with it where ever it moves.

I agree, combat is a little sloppy because of the lock-on, but I can't think of a much better way, so I accept it.

Yes i can see antipode's point,

but when you consider that that there's a facility to rapidly cycle through
each of the focus'd enemies (and you can only have one highlighted at a
time) then quickly locking on, how could there be a more "ABLE" system?
it really suits me o.k.

Hey there Shmaugus,

First of all there is no secret, it's in official info', I'm not quite sure about
when using the mouse (i use keyboard) but pressing left/ctrl while facing say a pack of wolves and with the bow/crossbow aimed from a distance, just press
left or right keys to cycle from wolf to wolf (between shots).

If Antipode had the object/enemy in focus and his arrows went to another
unfocused object then there may be another unknown system fault.
