I heard about an obscure game yesterday. Half-Life 2 anyone? _________________ CaptainWorshipperNonFlamer

Obscure?? It's only one of the most anticipated games of the year... (Gothic 2 was for me, but for the majority, Half-Life 2 is getting all the fame.) _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.

The only gaming Magazine I buy is PC Gamer.
First, it's only about PC games. I'm absolutely not interested of other consoles.
Second, they have a sense of humour that's fun to read.
And, they both have good reviews and hypes, plus a DVD packed with 4 GB crap. _________________

I'll have to do some research on PC Gamer and Play. Maybe I'll subscribe to them. Throw me a couple links. _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.

I just subscribed to PC Gamer magazine. Hopefully their demo CD isn't the same exact one as MAXIMUM PC. It would be a shame if they partnered, using the same monthly demos. _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.

I didn't see a separate subscription option for that. Here is the link where I subscribed. Let me know if I subscribed to the correct one. _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.

You subscribed to the US one. They dont have a DVD option.
In my oppinion the UK one is a LOT better. But I am probably very biased since I am from the UK. Maybe you will appreciate the US humor more than I did.
The UK one would be a lot more expensive to subscribe to if you wanted it delivered to the US, and obviously you wouldnt get quite a bit of the humor for cultural reasons (I am sure for exactly the same reasons I dont appreciate the US one as much).
I never really tried the demos on the US one. I read a couple of issues, but their CD's seemed to be quite thin on substance. _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |

I buy MaximumPC for the reading, and don't usually play the demos. I've subscribed to MaximumPC from the beginning when it was called Boot. They have editorials, software reviews, technical articles(how to's, etc ), and hardware reviews usually presented with humor and attitude. Lately, MP has had quite a few articles about case moding and PC building. The problems with MPC are that it is too short, and some of the info is stale by the time you get it, but I still love that magazine. If you really need the latest scoop on a component, you are better off going to tomshardware.com, etc. _________________ "You two are a regular ol' Three Musketeers."

Unfortunately, I don't yet have anything to compare it to, but I enjoy the magazine a lot as well. Until this thread, I didn't even know its articles were outdated. _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.

Pretty much all printed articles are outdated nowadays. The only ones that arent are exclusive previews and interviews, and they are getting rarer by the day.
But theres just something nice about sitting down on the couch reading a magazine that the internet just cant match. _________________ IMHO my opinion is humble |
