Am I missing something, or is everyones inventory a mess at some point ??
I hoped there would be an "Auto-tidy" button..........
When I pick up stuff, it doesn't always stack with existing same items....
Maybe I'm just lazy.

Well not all items stack. Potions do, but the rest don't AFAIK.
Besides that I would like to rearange my inventory as well. There is apparently no way to drag something from the second page to the first for example. _________________ Kewl quotes:

an auto-arrange button like in Dungeon Siege would be handy in fact,
but you can certainly drag things from an inventory page to another page:
simply drag them on the page-skip buttons at the right side! : |

Myrthos, if you can't get it from the second to the first page by using the tab...try dropping it onto your avatar. _________________ Whenever I feel blue, I start breathing again.

@Myrthos - I have had no problem moving items between pages. Just click item, click on tab for page of inventory, click where you want the new item to go. The only tricky part is clicking the tab. If memory serves, it is sometimes hard to judge where the tab is through the image of the item.
This is very handy. 1 page for weapons, 1 for potions, another for quest itmes. Very clean. _________________ =Member of The Nonflamers' Guild=

You just have to arrange your own backpack. I tried to be tidy... but my inventory ends up looking like a wizard's lab. I hotkey everything I want, so that spoils me... I often have the full five pages of... garbage really. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

As Lintra said, you can still use page tabs as you're "holding" an item. Just pick up an item, click on page tab and you can drop the item onto a new page. If this proves too difficult, you can use bags as temporary storage.
Personally, the only problem I find with the inventory is that it sorts the wrong way. It fills from left to right and from bottom to top. I find that it would be MUCH more useful if it were filling from top to bottom and then from left to right. Especially since items are vertically intensive. As is, small items don't fill gaps in between large items, but rather large items need to find innovative ways to fit around large numbers of small items that get in the way. _________________ (@) |

my sorceress is a super-messie
I don't know which keys and books and notes etc. you might need later so I keep all of it, and I also have plenty of potions, scrolls, wands...
that's one thing I don't like about RPGs ...from time to time you have to clean out your inventory and sometimes it's hard to decide which to keep |

Well, if you want to tidy things up get a few containers (bags of holding if you're feeling extravagant... otherwise magic bags will work nicely). Stuff as many books in one as you can, regeants in another, wands in another, etc.
Other than that... the game takes away items at the end of each part (items that no longer have a use). My rule of thumb with charged items like wands or worn items like boots and rings is... if I haven't worn them or used them in three hours, I sell them. _________________ Estuans interius, Ira vehementi

Don't worry about quest items. You can't lose those. Just drop them on the ground and if you ever need them you can retrieve them from the pool of divining(sp?). I used to drop items I didn't want in my inventory around the actual pool in the temple of Tyr, so every time I needed an item or wanted to retrieve something, it would be a stone of recall away. _________________ (@) |

What I do is lock out the number of available screens. I put all my gems in the first two rows, and sell them down to one. I also have some shurikens, bullets, taking up slots. Then comes the row of potions green on top, brown on the bottom. By type, weakest to strongest. Next there is a row of arrows and bolts, I always keep at least one set of arrows, though I don't have a bow, since it lets me open up a slot on the first page. Three types of med-kits, and a row of lockpicks at the bottom and more bolts.
The second page has two bags of holding which carry quest items, and or ingredients, I usually keep three or four of each. Extra potions, henchman tokens, and any scrolls I can use take up part of the page, and my smaller weapons fill it out.
The third page, usually my last page, is for my big weapons. Also, anything big I find is usually there. |

You can also use a magic bag as a buffer to move things around, without having to drop anything. |

My inventory isn't sorted at all - everything everywhere.
My wife's inventory is carefully sorted right down to separate pages to colour-code potions. One page for green potions, one page for red potions... |
