Should I just sell Leather Satchels or can I open them?

I read in the forums a post that implied that one is able to open the leather bags and take stuff out of them... Is this true. I've been just selling them for 8-15 bucks to merchants. Is there more gold than that inside that I'm wasting?

Open them and keep the gold for yourself...In the fist game I played I was selling them until I accidentally clicked on one while in inventory and saw “50 gold pieces added to inventory” or something like that. Now that I have an English ver of G2 and starting all over I won’t be selling any of them any more…

I'm still in the first chapter. The ones I've been finding have 25 gold inside.

You can open it if its name is "Leather Satchel". I don't know if you should open the ones with other names, because they may be quest-related.
