Should I just sell Leather Satchels or can I open them?

I read in the forums a post that implied that one is able to open the leather bags and take stuff out of them... Is this true. I've been just selling them for 8-15 bucks to merchants. Is there more gold than that inside that I'm wasting?

Open them and keep the gold for yourself...In the fist game I played I was selling them until I accidentally clicked on one while in inventory and saw �50 gold pieces added to inventory� or something like that. Now that I have an English ver of G2 and starting all over I won�t be selling any of them any more�

I'm still in the first chapter. The ones I've been finding have 25 gold inside.

You can open it if its name is "Leather Satchel". I don't know if you should open the ones with other names, because they may be quest-related.
