You gotta do what it takes...

Hey,

I just got back from getting Morrowind and I thought I would share my experience with everyone just to show you the lengths I would got to to get it (Arent you lucky).

Heard yesterday (1st May) from EB that it was definately going to be in today (Wednesday 2nd May), so I decided I HAD to go and get it.

Now heres the complicated bit. I dont have a driving licence, and my wife has the only car, and she works 8 - 5. The mall is about 30mins drive away at 50MPH so I work out it would take me about 5 hrs to walk. But there is a bus that can take me 75% of the way. That would probably still take me about 2hrs each way since the busses here are useless.

So I decide to ride with my Wife in the morning and get dropped at the mall and wait for EB to open. She works about 45 mins away, so we leave at like 6:30, needless to say I pack a large bottle of water for the trek back since I still have to walk 25% of the way. (A good hours walk at least)

At this point I am praying they realy do have it in today, because I am gonna be real pissed if I have to WALK back empty handed.

So I get to the mall at about 7am. Cant get in because all the doors are locked so I end up walking around asking the cleaners etc if there is a way I can get in to wait. Eventually after walking the entire outside of the mall (Its quite big) I manage to get in and wait. All the food court staff are there but no one will sell me any breakfast. Scum!

So, I wait untill 10AM, and the store opens, I go in and have to wait for the UPS guy to deliver the game, he comes at 10:30 not too bad and I get my game with no problems! Obviously at this point I am overjoyed.

Now comes the fun bit, the journey home. I only just moved here to Texas recently so I have no idea where anything is, so I spend about 30mins looking for the damn bus stop. The only one I can find is facing the wrong direction, but I say what the hell, its gonna be air conditioned and I have been out here for 30 mins in the unforgiving Texas sun, so I just wait for the bus.

10 mins past, 30 mins past, 1hr passes......

Getting quite pissed now...

1:30hrs pass... 2hrs.... hold on, its here!!!

So I get on the bus, and he decided to sit there for another 20mins!!! I am getting ready to strangle him. Doesnt he realise I HAVE to play this game NOW?

Well anyway, skipping the entir bus journey, cuz thats rather dull. (I just read the manual and art book), I manage to get as close to home as I can on the bus, and now Ive got to walk. Joy!

So I start the trek down the service road, walking, walking, walking, sun beating down on me... Dying of thirst. After about 45mins of walking, I come across another problem. There is a river, but no pedestrian section on the interstate bridge. I either swim, or go car dodging. I decide to take my chances with the snakes and walk down to the river.

So when I get down there, I take a look. Its only about 10/15feet across. But I cant see the middle in the bottom. I try and find some rocks to walk across but no luck. OK, I say, I think I'll skip this one, so I walk back up the other side of the interstate, and lo and behold. They have a pedestrian section on that side. Phew...

So now I have about 15 mins more left to walk. Well I guessed I guessed wrong, make it another 45mins. So after finally getting near home, I pop into a Taco Bell and take serious liberties with their free drink refills, before walking the last 5mins to my appt.

So here I am, posting this message. Left at 6:30 am, and got back at 2:45PM. Dripping wet and stinking like a 400lb marathon runners arse crack. All I would have had to do to make my life a whole lot easier, was just wait until my wife got home at six, and I could have been playing Morrowind at about 6:30/7PM but hell, I got an extra 4 hrs play time out of it and I think it was worth the effort!

I am gonna go take a shower, and boot up the god of a game that is morrowind.

I would love to hear anyone elses stories like this. If anyone is as crazy as I am that is.

Nice one!

Thanks for the story bud, your copy is well earned
Being in the UK, with no release date specified, and being unable to wait much longer. I'm getting the damn thing flown in from Canada. I swear I will get that game in my grubby paws by the 10th if I have to swim the Atlantic.

I'll get mine tomorrow, and I really hope I won't have that much excitement on my way back.
