Waiting to get..

I was thinking of building a new computer to play this game but have decided to spend more time with Morrowind and the expansions. So far none of the rpgdot posts on the game make me want to run right out and get it. The UI thing really bugs me. How annoying.. Wish gaming companies would learn that eye candy doesn't make a game great. They could have used the Morrowind engine. Spent all their time on gameplay. Quests. Making the world more alive. I think microsoft might have had a hand in this game also. Smells of them with Xbox360 being released.

I've heard rumours that MS would not allow a "better" interface on the PC than the Xbox 360 - but whether those rumours are true is another matter. It's a shame but you get used to it - I wouldn't consider them game breaking.

Otherwise...I think OB is an improvement on OB in almost every way - but then I didn't really like MW that much. Yes, they could have just worked on MW and polished the gameplay to perfection but we all know the new graphics engine is very much a part of why this will sell millions). Actually, they both use the GameBryo engine (albeit an updated version) but that'sa different discussion.

It's been a long time since I've spent much of the day at work planning my game time. Worth a new computer? Well, probably not...but it does give a good excuse.

I see that there are really some experts over there at Bethseda :].

Generally I really like what I read. Yes, it makes me aware of the interface problems. That's great (I wont be spoiled by it). I'll buy the game as soon as it is released here.
