Because I thought that the main thing about all those games is to fight continously over some pieces of land, trying to expand your territory with endless sieges.
So what, you could say that about pve mmogs even. Fighting continously against mobs in som areas to gain access to higher level areas (expanding territory). Camping or "sieging endlessly" high level boss monsters. |

I'm currently not playing any MMORPGs. I'm waiting for World of Warcraft to be released. I do, however, have years of experience with several other MMORPGs, including some MUDs. I played EQ and DAoC for years (EQ for longer.) In my experience with all the different MMOGs I've played, I can safely say that anyone who claims all (or even most) MMORPGs are the same, is just ignorant. Depth? It'd take you literally months, if not years to experience all the "depth" some of these modern MMORPGs have. They might have similar role-playing mechanics, but the story, art and most importantly, the feel is always unique. Anyone who truly has a passion for MMO gaming would understand the differences between these many, various MMORPGs. And anyone who truly has a passion for role-playing would have an appreciation for their complexities and diversities.
I think we can expect great things from Blizzard's World of Warcraft. That is my educated assumption. The game is obviously not yet released, but meanwhile, I'd suggest to anyone who doesn't play MMORPGs because they tried one once for only a day or two and decided that all MMORPGs suck, to open your mind again and give it another try. An MMORPG is completely different than a regular single-player game. You really need to spend a full week or more before you'll really know whether it's something you can enjoy. Don't kid yourself though. If competition is important to you, don't bother. MMORPGs take a lot of time and patience.
Gaming can be a reward of its own, but Massively Multiplayer Online gaming can be a reward of infinite bliss. --quote me (please ) _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.

Most definately you are right, SirDeity.
Btw, you sure have taken a long break from MMORPG gaming, as WoW most certainly wont be seen on the market before the end of the year. |

Yes. I'm afraid I've been busy with some real-life stuff. Once WoW is released though, I'm sure it'll be the only thing I ever do.
I might try a few more MMOGs before WoW's release, merely to satisfy my curiosity. _________________ I am the founder and former leader of a guild in EQ, retired member of The Code in EQ, original member of KOE in AOE2, past Corporal of EVO in MOHAA, respected veteran of UT 2003, a conquerer of all decent games, and an aspiring game developer.

I also may try one or two, so far I have placed Guild Wars on 2nd place in the MMORPGs as I think it would be cool (and also is said to not have a monthly account ). Also, If I have a possibility, other on the list are FreeWorld and any other MMORPG that is without a monthly account. |
