Noob question: Just installed and game won't run |
|
I just installed the game on a fairly new Hp pavilion a630n with pentium 4. I just bought this game 3 hours ago and installed it. When I try to run the game it will bring up the mini screen that shows the title, then go completly black then take me right back to the desktop. It won't run for me. I tried the activision site and was sent an email that they would get back to me on monday. I tried everything in the FAQ and even some suggestions on the activision site. Any help would be nice and appreciated casue I really don't want to wait until monday to play.... |

This might be the issue...
Bloodlines can default to a refresh rate that is too high if you use the generic Windows monitor driver (or the wrong monitor driver).
Try setting an override in directx...click Start, Run and type "dxdiag" (no quotes). Click OK. When dxdiag starts, click the More Help tab, then the Override button. Enter a suitable value in the override value (if you don't know what to use, start with 60). _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |

Here is the video card ( I believe, kinda new at this)
Intel(R) 82915G/GV/910GL Express Chipset Family
1280 x 1024 (32 bit) (60Hz)
Driver name is: ialmrnt5.dll
I tried the refresh rate thing. I went all the way down to 40 and 120 and everything in between. Its a no go still the same thing... |

Ah, there's your likely problem - integrated video. That type of video is passable for wordprocessing and surfing the net but not really for playing games. You'll need to get a separate video card of an appropriate type. I know it's a very new system but that video wasn't really intended for gaming. _________________ Editor @ RPGDot |

I found the specs for Hp Pavilion a630n model:
quote:
* Processor 1 x Intel Pentium 4 520 2.8 GHz
* Cache Memory 1 MB L2 cache
* Cache Per Processor 1 MB
* RAM 512 MB (installed) / 4 GB (max) - DDR SRAM - 400 MHz - PC3200
* Storage Controller Serial ATA ( Serial ATA-150 )
* Hard Drive 1 x 160 GB - standard - Serial ATA-150
* Optical Storage DVD+RW
* Optical Storage (2nd) CD-ROM
* Card Reader 9 in 1
* Monitor None.
* Graphics Controller Intel GMA 900
* Audio Output Sound card - 7.1 channel surround
Most components are good for the game except the build-in video display capability:
quote:
Integrated Graphics
This graphics circuitry is integrated with the computer's main chipset, as opposed to being on its own card. As such, it's a low-cost, simple solution that is fine for normal "2D" programs—productivity programs, email, Web browsing, and such. However, it will be weak with programs that require 3D graphics, such as immersive video games and computer-aided design packages.

Your video card is below the minimum specs of the game.
The video card in my laptop is below also its a g4mx 420 32mb and the game says it needs 64 mb. It ran great though.
I do believe you could run the game. End users rewrite the drivers for cards such as yours or sis integrated to make them work with dx9.
I dont have any links for you but I have just read other game forums and that was the answer for some people.
Even if you get the game running on integrated video... it will run so slow it wont be fun.
Look into if you have an agp slot and a cheap video card. |

Figured posting the new patch here might be as good a spot as any. _________________ =Member of the Nonflamers Guild=
