I know there was an Ultima 9 remake in the talks not to long ago... Ultima 9 Eridian. Is this Ultima 9 Redemption any relation to Ultima 9 Eridian?

No, it isnt. Eriadan uses the NWN engine and follows the orriginal plot for Ultima Ascension as published by Bob White. Redemption uses the Morrowind engine and is an orriginal story, though probably more faithfull to the rest of the series than Ultima Ascension and Bob White plot togeather.

There is no relation between the storylines, except that both happen post-Ultima 8. However, there is a relation between the two projects. At one point, both Moa Dragon and Avatus were working on what was initially known as Alter U9, under a very primitive 2D RPG engine. However, when Neverwinter Nights was released, Moa switched tracks and began development under NWN of what became Eriadain.

Avatus, to my knowledge, largely disagreed with this move, for two reasons —
(a) the reliance on the Bob White plot, which he is not a huge fan of AND
(b) he felt that introducing D&D aspects into Ultima (an inevitable consequence of using NWN) was a mistake...

And thus, Redemption was born.
