I try to avoid the DVD cases as they up too much space. I usually keep my games in the cd cases, and the DCD cases are twice as big.

I also like a big manual. Heroes of Might of Magic 2, Balders Gate 2, Arcanum, Tie Fighter, Fallout, they all had great manuals that I often referred back to. The Ultima series always managed to fill a box nicely, with lovely maps, manuals, and a lot of other stuff. But I also read that Train Simulator, which came in a big box, had no printed manual, just a 200 page faq file.

On the other hand, games like Max Payne don't need huge manuals. The other DVD case I have is Black and White, whose manual was appalling.

I would not mind two variants, like the Balders Gate 2 special edition, in which the DVD case version would be cheaper, but we can obtain a version with all the trimmings if we want.

As I almost always buy the American version, the DVD case problem has not really effected me. But the idea of reducing the price sounds good.

Note that they said DVD case, not DVD. I suppose they're still bundling the game on a CD?

I'm pretty afraid that this pricing strategy will just mean more money in the hands of the store owner, at least here in Iceland.

I seen Codename here on sale at full price, so maybe its only an American strategy. In America Serious SAm was sold very cheaply, here it was full price.

Yes I got Serious Sam for $20 here in the states. A very good game if you're an FPS fan. So there goes that whole quality vs. price issue.

BTW Serious Sam came out in a cd case.

cheers,
