Get the ring of strength or dex from the mage when you complete enough quests to get into the castle grounds (or just run thru the gate with your sword drawn, then put it away)..

Once you have it, equip it then DROP it..do not uneqip it..

pick up and do the same, over and over. Your strength never goes down. Found this by accident when I took my level 33 char and stole an Amulet of Might (+7 dex, +7 str)..equipped it and accidentally dropped it, picked it up again and my str was 114 instead of 107. Thought that was a riot.
